Acorn Land Inc. is a licensed, registered apiary, with multiple beehives (Apiary Registration Certificate FL0486012M). Through its fully-owned subsidiary, Raw Local Honey, Acorn Land has on-site beehives and produces & sells raw honey. Its hives were inspected and approved in September 2014 (DPI firm # 48014940).
In 2012 governor Rick Scott signed into law legislation assuring agricultural classification for apiary lands, as defined in FS 604.15. Pursuant to FS 586.10, this designation shall not be withheld or redefined by any local authority.
Acorn Land also has a long term lease with Agricultural Fuels Corp., to produce agricultural fuel wood products and soils. Located in Orlando, Florida, Agricultural Fuels sells firewood, and fuel wood for use as boiler or hog fuel feedstock for renewable green energy power generation.
Agricultural Fuels is paving the way to a new type of agriculture in Florida; the first energy farm. Agricultural Fuels has a Special Use Authorization from the St. Johns River Water Management District to harvest 100 acres of willow for use as biomass fuel. This project could expand to 9,000 acres.
A portion of these agricultural fuel products are derived from urban wood residuals that have been diverted from the waste stream. They are made from 100% sustainable and renewable wood and biomass sources.
